Sunset at the Temple of Dawn

One of the many temples of Thailand is the renowned Wat Arun which literally means ‘The Temple of Dawn. It is named after the Indian God of Dawn, Aruna and it was built by one of the kings in Thailand in 17th century. The temple has 70 steps before you get to the peak tower or at the foot of its spire or ‘prang’ as Thais call it.

Though the steps are very steep, it was painless for me to go up as I was so immersed at the sights of the sunset, the Chao Phraya River and the boats cruising as well as the smaller temples. The only thing I didn’t do was to look down behind me because I felt queasy especially when we started our descend. The steps are so vertically made and I could feel the gravity hugging me down.
